Chamomile Essential Oil Is One Of the Most Powerful Plant Based Therapies Around
If you’ve ever walked through a park, the woods, or a field here in the United States it’s likely you’ve seen wild chamomiles growing in abundance.
These white and yellow flowers are a member of the daisy family and are one of the more common flowers in the natural environment.
I love chamomiles because of the wide ranging number of benefits they offer to us; namely the ability to create a Chamomile Essential Oil which can be used for the treatment of digestive issues, insomnia, and more.
I had one of my fellow survivalists write up a quick overview on the survival benefits of this amazing essential oil and I hope you enjoy it.
6 Reasons to Use Chamomile Essential Oil for Survival
Chamomile essential oil has many uses and has been used throughout history by different countries. Romans used the herb during the times of war to keep the soldiers in a good mental state and the Greeks used it to treat different kinds of allergies. It is also beneficial for other nearby plants, hence it has earned the nickname of “plant’s physician”.
This miracle oil is extracted from the flowers of the Chamomile plant. Steam distillation is generally used by most manufacturers to extract the oil. The flowers are first kept in a still and then the steam penetrates the plant which forces the oil outward to be captured. The oil which is extracted has been proven to have many health benefits.
The plant has a pungent fruit like aroma which is known to calm stressors and because of its soothing smell, it has been used for centuries. Even today, it is still one of the most popular oils to take before going to bed for a restful night’s sleep.
It is also used as a beverage tea in the U.S. and many European countries. As per reports, almost one millions cups of Chamomile tea are made every day, making it one of the most popular herbal teas. It is used in many cosmetic preparations as well.
Some of the main benefits of this natural therapy are:
1 – GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER TREATMENT
It can be successfully used to treat generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). GAD is generally not regarded as a serious medical problem and most patients use self-diagnosis to treat it however, some research has found that GAD symptoms had significantly reduced in patients after the use of chamomile oil. It is generally used by rubbing it on the skin of the patient.
2 – SKIN BENEFITS
The oil also has many skin benefits and can be used to treat skin burns. It is anti-inflammatory by nature and can also be successfully used to treat skin infections or allergies.
3 – DIGESTIVE HEALTH
It also has some digestive benefits and is an excellent remedy for digestion related diseases such as constipation and diarrhea. Chamomile oils are known to help produce digestive juices which in turn make sure that the belly and the bowels function properly and don’t get inflated. Anyone suffering from a bloating stomach can gain quick acting benefits by using this oil.
4 – ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTIES
Chamomile essential oil has antibacterial properties and can be used to treat wounds and infections. It is commonly used for conjunctivitis and dental abscesses and is also used to relax your muscles and tight joints. This incredible natural oil also helps to ease the pain of back aches and menstrual cramps.
5 – EMOTIONAL BENEFITS
Apart from the many physical benefits this essential oil has, it is documented that it can be good for the mind. It is known to be used on people who are in a bad mental state and are struggling to find purpose in their life. It can soften one’s ego and can help them to focus on daily activities.
There are many ways by which the oil can be applied to the body. It can either be applied directly to the skin as well as consumed orally for digestive problems. Another preferable option is to apply around ten drops of oil in your bath water.
Chamomile essential oil doesn’t have any notable side effects but like most other essential oils, it should not be used by pregnant women. It is also stated that some people who have sensitive skin may experience irritation.

Want To Make Your Own Chamomile Essential Oil?
While you can buy this oil at health food stores and off the Internet it’s obvious you’re not going to be able to head to the store in a survival situation and pick up a bottle.
Plus, if you want to save money by making it instead of buying it this video should help educate you on the exact way to make your own.
The following video is presented in Spanish, but does have English subtitles, and will show you just how easy this is.
Keep in mind if you’re ever out in the woods trying to do this you’re going to need a large fire to accomplish such a task.
If you don’t already have the means to start a fire in a survival situation I recommend a portable fire starter.
