9 Amazing DIY Native American Survival Shelters

9 Amazing DIY Native American Survival Shelters

Preppers have been building survival shelters for a long time; heck, many of us learned how to build a shelter in our days as a Boy Scout.

However, survival shelters have been around for centuries. In fact, the Native Americans are famous for their survival shelters, such as the tipi and the wigwam.

And although we’ve since modified our shelters and given them an “updated” look, many of the frame styles and ideas we know today were taken from these very same people so many years ago.

Thankfully, it’s fairly easy to learn how to build a shelter, and if you keep reading, I’ll show you how to make…

Note: Before attempting these yourself, you must remember that choosing the correct survival shelter location is just as important (if not more) than the quality of the shelter you build. For tips on how to find the perfect spot, click here.

Isn’t that awesome?! I think it’s amazing how we can do so much with our hands and can build an effective survival shelter that will help protect you from the rain, wind and snow (not to mention the cold).

Not only that, but as you saw in the above videos, as long as you have a good hatchet, a strong saw, tons of trees, a few hours, and some know-how beforehand, you can transform a bunch of logs, twigs, branches and leaves into a bug out shelter that’ll help keep yourself alive.

However, it’s important to keep something in mind – there may be times when you don’t have the luxury of having tons of trees around you in order to make a survival shelter.

Plus, the fact is many times you just won’t have time to build something even as elaborate as what you’ve seen so far. And if a storm is coming (or is already upon you), you’re going to need to move FAST in order to get a shelter up, get out of the elements and get warm.

And for those times, I suggest a quick-and-easy method, such as our done-for-you survival shelters featured below.

These survival shelters are not only effective at keeping you out of the wind, rain, and snow in a crisis, but they’re also incredibly easy to set up (far easier than even the simplest survival shelter shown in this blog).

These shelters also require no saws, hatchets, or other special tools to get the job done. That means there’s no branches to cut, no logs to tie together, and no frustration when the shelter you were building doesn’t work out as expected. These one-and-done solutions will set up properly and keep you protected every single time.

Better yet, these shelters travel with you – so whether you find yourself stranded on the side of the road, lost in the desert, or stuck in the middle of nowhere, you can always depend on these durable shelters to protect you no matter what.

And when you consider the amount of time and effort it takes to build multiple survival shelters when you’re constantly on the move, you can bet you’ll want an easy-to-set-up-and-tear-down solution that requires minimum effort for maximum results.

The fact is, when push comes to shove and a storm is brewing, I want a shelter that I can easily set up and get under, and then easily tear down and store away when I’m done. And it’s for these reasons I personally recommend the survival shelters below for my emergency prepping needs.
